Today we are going to know the gastronomic icons of Tolosaldea, of international fame. We will start with the so-called “Langostinos de Ibarra”, as “chillies” or Piperrak ”are called in Basque. We will continue with the native breed Euskal Txerri (Basque pig) that was on the verge of extinction. We will learn about their history in the Caserío Elola, where they are raised among beautiful green meadows. We will end the day getting to know the world famous “Tolosa Bean”, and the reason for its fame.
09:30 am Pick up at the hotels and departure to Ibarra, to first get to know the chilli plantations, the production processes, as well as the different culinary options that this delicious delicacy offers us. For a reason it is called as "Prawns from Ibarra". In the afternoon we will visit the Elola Azpikoa farmhouse, which is dedicated to the care and production of the native breed of Euskal Txerri pigs, they will teach us its secrets and we will taste the different natural products of excellent quality that this breed offers us.
We will end the day getting to know another of Tolosa's treasures, such as the Tolosa red bean. We will visit the Products Association, where they will explain why in this area of Gipuzkoa the ideal circumstances exist for what is perhaps the best bean in the world to grow.
