Day 1. CITY OF ORIGIN SAN SEBASTIAN

Arrival in San Sebastian and accommodation. In the afternoon visit to San Sebastián, or Donostia as it is called in Basque. Majestic city with beautiful beaches and an impressive culinary scene. The city first became famous during the Belle Époque, when the Queen Regent María Cristina established her summer residence here. The promenade is lined by an ornate white railing that has become a symbol of the city

Day 2. BASQUE COUNTRY HOUSE and IDIAZABAL CHEESE

Departure to visit Ordizia. Group reception in D'elikatuz. Guided visit "Ordizia Market: past, present and future". During this visit, we will learn about the origin and evolution of the market that has been held every Wednesday since 1512. Also the places where the market is held and those that have historically had a close relationship with it.

At the end of the visit, each participant will be given a ticket to be able to taste a pintxo and a drink in a local bar. Free time to get to know the market that has been held every Wednesday in Ordizia since 1512. That day will be the day of the Extraordinary Christmas Market. Free time will be left to visit it. Lunch at a local restaurant.

In the afternoon visit to the Hermanos Aranburu Cheese Factory, located in the town of Idiazabal. They make Idiazabal cheese in an artisanal way. The visit explains the process of making cheese, shows the facilities of the cheese factory and ends with a tasting of the different cheeses they make. Return to San Sebastian

Day 3. THE BASQUE COAST AND DINNER IN SIDRERIA

Breakfast and departure to visit the eastern coast of Gipuzkoa. First, we will visit the Pasaia fish market, the third largest fish movement position in the state. It achieves this thanks to the agility in boarding, disembarking and putting the merchandise on sale.

We will make a guided visit to the Mater Ship Museum. Tuna boat converted into a Museum, where we will relive the fishing legacy of a coastal tuna vessel from the Cantabrian Sea and you will learn how fishermen work and live, the hidden heroes of the sea, whose profession is considered one of the hardest and most sacrificed in the world and also one of the the oldest trades.

All this bathed in sensations that will transport us to the reality of fishing, with a canning workshop, savoring a pintxo of Bonito del Norte looking at the bay (Pincho de bonito del Norte) and with the possibility of trying the effort of lifting a rod, snuggling up on the cot lulled by the waves, etc ...

We will pass in a small boat to Pasajes de San Juan or Pasaia Donibane. We will walk through its unique but beautiful street that runs through the entire historic center, with a set of passageways under the houses, hidden txokos and other details that will enchant us. Here we will visit a typical Pasaia house, with direct access to the Bay, built in the s. XVII where Victor Hugo stayed during his stay in Pasaia in 1843.

Return to Donostia / San Sebastian and rest. Out for dinner at a typical Basque cider house in Astigarraga, an ideal place to taste Basque cider and gastronomy: in the middle of nature, surrounded by apple trees and just 5 km from San Sebastián.

Day 4. TXAKOLI, IMMERSION TO THE BASQUE COUNTRY AND DINOSAURS

Breakfast and departure to visit the western coast of Gipuzkoa. First, we will visit a Txakoli Winery in Zarautz. A small and familiar winery where the fifth generation is committed to developing quality products, without large productions, thus ensuring the maintenance of the rural environment and environmental sustainability.

Later we will go to Zumaia to learn about its history and immerse ourselves in Basque, ending with a tapas of Pulpo, a specialty of Zumaia. A fascinating maritime excursion will allow us to discover the very important flysch outcrop between Zumaia and Deba, which treasures millions of years of geological history in impressive cliffs sculpted by the sea.

Lunch in Zarautz and free time to walk around the town, the beach, and the Karlos Argiñano Hotel, where we can take a picture with him (well, with his height). The main attraction of Zarautz is, without a doubt, its 2.5 kilometers of fine sand beach, the longest in the Spanish Basque Country and one of the longest in the entire Cantabrian Sea.

Day 5. WALLS OF HONDARRIBIA - CITY OF ORIGIN

Lunch in Hondarribia, in a local restaurant located in the marina. Lunch and visit of the old part of Hondarribia, where we will learn about its important cultural and artistic heritage, inheritance of a rich history. Its walls, most of them standing and in a constant process of recovery, give it a special appearance, evoking an epic past and permeating every corner, alley, and plaza with aromas, flavors and sounds that transport us to other times.

Return to the City of Origin or night in San Sebastián.
