A walk from Elantxobe to Ogoño, to feel the power of this cape, one of the most impressive images of Urdaibai. A simple round-trip path of 6.5 km, with a small unevenness and 2 hours long. The visit to Elantxobe will show us the charm of a fishing village, genuine and unique.
The Santimamiñe Cave is located within the natural environment of Urdaibai, declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO. They are cave paintings dating from the Magdalenian period of the Upper Paleolithic (13,000 BC). Different animals are represented in them, such as bison, horses, deer, goats and brown bears. The cave also has numerous stalactite and stalagmite formations of great beauty.
09: 30h Pick up at the accommodations. From Elantxobe we will start the walk towards El Peñón de Ogoño, which rises in front of the Cantabrian Sea and becomes one of the most beautiful coastal watchtowers on the Basque Coast. After the walk, visit Elantxobe Built on a hillside overlooking the sea, sheltered from Cabo Ogoño, with stepped buildings and narrow, sloping streets that take you to the port. It has its origin in a small nucleus of fishermen that already existed at the beginning of the 16th century.
Las Cuevas de Santimamiñe is the most important archaeological site in Bizkaia, and a World Heritage Site. A cave that preserves remains of human settlements from more than 14,000 years ago, fifty cave paintings and numerous stalactite and stalagmite formations of great beauty.
