Information
The best way to get to know the Urdaibai Biosphere Reserve is to take a walk through its marshes. A circular route that offers the possibility of enjoying the best natural landscape of Urdaibai. Urdaibai Bird Center is a great bird research center, a great living museum of nature. A mandatory stop for all those who enjoy the spectacle of nature.
09: 30h Pick up at the accommodations. We will start with The path "Through the Heart of the Marshes" is a circular route suitable for all audiences, of about 12 km. with 260 m. unevenness. A 4-hour walk through the Marshes of the Biosphere Reserve that will make us blend in with this natural environment. The marshes of the Urdaibai Biosphere Reserve have the most important wetlands in the entire Basque Country, both for their size and for how well preserved they are.
In the afternoon we will visit the Urdaibai Bird Center, located in full marshes, being a very relevant area as a resting area for birds in the different migratory periods and in wintering. The birds know it, so they do not hesitate to make a technical stop here to rest and feed. Every year no more and no less than 250 species come closer.
