We will start the walk through the History of the Basque people at the Museum of Euskal Herria, to learn about their culture, politics and history. We will visit the Park of the Peoples of Europe, where the representation of the four ecosystems of the Atlantic Basque Country stands out, the House of Meetings and the Tree of Gernika, which for centuries has been the meeting place of the peoples of Bizkaia. Finally, we will visit the city's memorial heritage: the symbolism, history and culture of the town.
09: 30h Pick up at the accommodations. In the morning we will start by getting to know the Museum of Euskal Herria, which will help us to grasp the historical political-cultural significance of the provincial environment in which it is located, and to explain the characteristics of the spiritual community that Euskal Herria makes up. Later we will walk through the Park of the Peoples of Europe.
We will continue at the Casa de Juntas and the Tree of Gernika, living symbols of the history of the Basque People and headquarters of the highest institutional body of Bizkaia. The building stands next to the foral oak, a meeting point for all the territories of Euskal Herria.
The afternoon will be dedicated to getting to know Gernika: before and after the bombing, the town's memorial heritage, history and culture. Through materials such as stone, bronze, steel or brick, we will let their monuments tell us what happened here.
18: 30h Approximate time of return.
