ITUREN and ZUBIETA CARNIVALS

Our local guide together with Julian, will bring us closer to one of our oldest traditions. What now seems a joke or subversion of the everyday, responded in another time to a pagan and magical behavior.
A widespread belief in the boreal countries, from Canada to Japan, assures that on February 2 the bear awakens from a three-month lethargy and leaves its den. It is a symbol of seasonal change and of the year that begins. The bear and other animals are incorporated into the pantomimes of Carnival, the winter festival that stages the eternal drama of a circular time that flows and a dormant nature that, to revive, needs to be awakened through a thunderous ritual. A lustral and purifying moment to scare away the bad and burn what is out of date.
Monday ZUBIETA CARNIVAL
09h Reception at the Elgorriaga Spa. Transfer by van. We will know all the details of this carnival and its characters. Lunch not included. Chat with the Joaldunak as we see how they dress and prepare for the parade. Carnival parade knowing the life and culture of the valleys of the Water (malderreka).
15:30 pm End of the main carnival parade, driving away the witches and evil spirits. Food to decide not included.

Group of 10/18 adults: € 58 / adult
Youth price (12-17 years): € 32 / youth
INCLUDES:
- Transportation between Ituren and Zubieta
- Guided visit to Ituren and Zubieta (depending on the day of attendance).

NECESSARY AND ADVISABLE MATERIAL
- Masks: Either standard (4h) or FFP2 or KN95 (8h). It is recommended to bring at least one pair of replacement masks.
- Hydroalcoholic gel.
- Comfortable clothes and shoes.
- Sunglasses and sunscreen.
- Cap with visor or hat to protect us from the sun.
- Oilskin.
COVID-19 PROTOCOL
- During the visits, the maximum groups are marked in each place. Therefore, according to the composition of the group, it will be divided based on these protocols.
- For lunch at noon, we will comply with the protocols established for the hospitality industry.
- Each family unit goes in their car, so we avoid contact during transfers.
- We must bear in mind that we are going to rural areas and that we have to respect the established protocols at all times and with great scruples. The local population may have some fear and suspicion that people from outside their territory can carry the virus to them. With which we have to be very respectful with them and with the protocols.
- We will greet each other without physical contact.
- For your safety and that of everyone, if you have a fever or any symptoms of Covid-19, or if you have been in contact with someone with Covid-19 in the last 10 days, refrain from participating in the activity. - Maintain a safety distance of 1.5 meters between people who do not live together.
- The use of a mask is mandatory if the safety distance is not maintained.
- Cleaning hands with hydroalcoholic gel very frequently.
- Do not exchange material or share drinks, food, sun creams or lipsticks. What one person has touched cannot be touched by another without first having been disinfected (if they are not a family unit living together).
- Flyers or advertising brochures that are seen not to take them. Ask the staff for them.
